Since the 1990s, Dr. Susan Stryker has been compiling a robust collection of archival material about the history of trans people in the Tenderloin. This gradual work led her to uncover the lost history of the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot of 1966. 

As part of the Turk x Taylor Initiative, this website makes her archive public as evidence of the importance of liberating the historical site from carceral power.
